Yummy Yummy Pasta Dish

I went to a party the other night and decided I would try out a new recipe to bring and boy did I luck out! Lately I've been craving a good pasta dish, so I searched through a collection of recipes I have and found the PERFECT one! It's easy to make and its deeeelish.

"Prosciutto Pasta Toss"
1 package of linguine (16 oz)
1/2 cup frozen peas
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 pound thinly sliced prosciutto or deli ham, chopped
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Step 1: Cook linguine according to package directions, adding frozen peas during the last 3 minutes
Step 2: Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute the garlic, Italian seasoning and pepper in olive oil for 2-3 minutes or until garlic is tender then stir in prosciutto or deli ham
Step 3: Drain linguine
Step 4: add olive oil mixture to pasta and toss to coat
Step 5: Sprinkle pasta with parmesan cheese

Fave Blog Friday 11/6/09

Welcome to Fave Blog Friday everyone! This is where I feature one of my favorite blogs that I follow in the past week. Today I'm taking you over to "Creations by Kara" she literally just posted this entry a few minutes ago, but I love what she just did.  Check it out!

It's a nice little reminder for all of us to not take life for granted and to stop and realize how many blessings we truly have in life. With all that is going on in the world i.e. shootings...war...crime... We really do need to be thankful for every little thing we are blessed with. And sometimes we need to read it with our own eyes to remember it. So thank you Kara for this great idea and for your wonderful blog!

Jute Candle Holder

I've had this candle holder for a while now, but I have to admit I'm getting sick of the stripes. I bought it "as is" and I think the fact that the lines were all uneven set off my crazy O.C.D HA!...So I sat and thought....and thought....and thought....and this is what I came up with. JUTE! Yes I hopped on the Jute bandwagon finally. People seem to be putting this stuff everywhere so I figured I would see for myself what the craze was all about. And lets' just say...I LOVE IT!

Here is the before, CrOoKeD lines and all.

Before I started wrapping the Jute, I spray painted the top part of the candle holder black.
(You will notice it in the final picture.)

I used my handy dandy Gorilla Super Glue to keep the Jute in place. This Jute stuff really moves if ya dont keep it in check! And this Gorilla Glue stuff is AMAZING at doing just that!

And now I introduce you to Mr. Jute!

I wrapped...and wrapped...and wrapped...then accessorized the final piece with this cross I found at Joanne's for $3.99

I wasn't crazy about the blue though. So I turned it around and noticed it was plain silver on the back. PERFECT!  So I decided to show off the back of it instead of spray painting it a different color.

Here is the back of the cross.

And here it is in all its beautiful Jute glory!

LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
Now I know what the Jute craze is all about :)

Pretty Trashcan

I came across this metal stand a while back and I think it was originally meant to be a plant holder. But I decided to give it a new purpose. A trash can! It's not that difficult of a project. But it's looks so much better now. Take a look.

BEFORE

After I spray painted it black...

Then I took some sand paper to the raised swirl designs, wiped it clean, then brushed on some top coat from this "American Accents Distressed Antique Kit" to bring out the original copper color.

And this is how it turned out!

Pretty eh?
